Carbon offset terminology

How carbon offsetting works

By purchasing credits, a company can be deemed to have reduced (cancelled out) their carbon footprint. Even companies that face difficulties in reducing their carbon footprint are able to cut their emissions of CO2.

Purchasing credits will be a contribution to society and will boost the value of your company.

Carbon dioxide emissions from factories and other facilities are difficult to reduce,
and the extent to which they can be handled in-house is limited. In these type of cases,
the purchase of credits can serve to prove that a company is actively contributing to
environmental protection and making contributions to society, which will lead to a boost
in corporate value. In addition, because this is a voluntary initiative,
your environmental contributions can be widely publicized.

Proceeds from credits will be used for sustainable forestry

The funds from the credits will be used to cover a portion of the cost of forest maintenance, to create sustainable forests, and to help preserve CO2 sinks, improve water holding capacity, prevent global warming, and protect biodiversity.

The Forests of Nakae—forests in Kochi, Tokushima, Kyoto, Gifu, and Fukui Prefectures are the forests of Japan that we all protect.
